our last day in a’dam was bright and sunny. woke up to no clouds in the sky! spent most of the time biking around and taking in the feeling. how appropriate that we found this sign today. the best part was at dusk when the fog was rolling in, biking through the little cobblestone streets lit up for the holidays. so surreal.
got the gang and hit the streets for museumnacht. http://www.n8.nl/2009/home first stop the hermitage to check out ballet and the fashion show from young designers united. show.http://ydu.nl/events
had to sit on the floor, but that was all part of the fun. the crowds were insane, standing in lines all night going from one place to another. loved the energy of the evening with everyone biking, walking and tramming around to check out the next cool thing.
ines the glove queen was the first person to follow me on @craveamsterdam and i was hooked from the first click to her website http://www.inesgloves.com.
i call her the glove queen cause…..did you check out her website yet? you will know immediately why i had to meet her. on my mission to meet cool women in amsterdam this tops the list. i invited barbara from @fashiontweet to join me to come check out the gloves.
we were so delighted to be invited into her gorgeous amsterdam home and sipped on tea while being enlighted by this women’s fabulous life and story. the one thing she said that resonated right away…”this is a complicated world and i don’t want to live a complicated life” she makes all her business decisions based on whatever will not complicate her life. I LOVED THAT!
she just sells online because wholesale is complicated. her business model is genius and i can’t wait to spend more time with her. more to come, since we will be featuring her very soon on our website worldwide! i have to tell the CRAVE world about INES!
how ’bout those new silver gloves i am sportin!

if you haven’t spent any time at the dylan i strongly suggest you do. we had a relaxing evening in front of the fireplace and the attention to detail from the staff at the dylan was excellent. http://www.dylanamsterdam.com/
it was fun to hook up with my new twitter buddies and old friends. we had 15 people bike in and bike out, to wish us bon voyage.

all i can say is anytime i land in europe again i will find the nearest COS. http://cosstores.com (H&M’s sister company) it was suggested i check it out by my very fashionable friend Isrid. the only COS in the netherlands is in the Hague. i was going to the Hague anyway to hang out with my other uber business guru friend Suzie from http://www.womensbusinessinitiative.net so i told her COS was my mission. i kinda spent most of my time in COS and had to do a quick drive by to see the beach in the dark. REALLY got to get back to the Hague and spend much more time there. it was great to see the Women’s business initiative HQ, if i lived there i would be hanging out there daily. ended my evening at the http://www.connectingwomen.nl/event meeting even more fabulous peeps. the famous Jo Parfitt http://www.joparfitt.com is the leader and it was fun to see her in action.
p.s. the orange juice in the netherlands is the best i have tasted. everywhere we go we order one!

i googled best pancakes in amsterdam and this is what i found. Upstairs Pannenkoekenhuis http://worldwidefoodguide.wordpress.com/2008/05/27/upstairs-pancake-house/ they are only open 3 days a week and we had to try it out before our friend Bridget gets here next week. i promised her i would find the best place to take her! i guess this guy lives upstairs and comes down 3 times a week to whip up his famous pancakes to only 15 people at a time. we can see it was an easy place to name, straight up stairs! we will be back next sunday…

when i met athalie at the women in red party several weeks ago, she invited me to her hood….Haarlem. thank you athalie for being tour guide and talking me into buying that Marlies Dekkers bra. (most expensive and interesting bra i now own) we had a great day slowly walking around the main shopping areas. i say slowly because i sprained my ankle a few days ago and should be home, with it raised and on ice i am told. oops….Haarlem is a very upscale vibe and people watching was very fashionable.
the real highlight was going to her house, meeting her family and sharing bread in a real Dutch home.

i am having the best time getting to know Andrea Martins from http://expatwomen.com. first met her at the expatica fair, then heard her speak at the European Women’s Association, went out to breakfast at the American hotel and we are meeting up one more time before she heads back to Kuala Lumpur. check out her website and subscribe to her newsletter. even if you are not an expat. i love that she supports and features Women! the coolest peeps from around the world.
i wonder if i can call myself an international now? does 2 months living somewhere else count??
of course we are VERY like-minded so it is so fun to talk shop. now we just got to get her hooked on twitter!
